BRINDISI SECURES $400,000 FOR ON POINT FOR COLLEGE

THE ORGANIZATION HAS HELPED OVER 400 YOUNG PEOPLE GET THE SUPPORT THEY NEED TO SUCCEED AFTER SCHOOL

(UTICA) — Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi of Utica announced today he has secured $400,000 in the 2017-2018 New York State Budget for On Point for College.  The organization provides a wide range of assistance for students interested in attending college, including with applications, financial aid, and help entering the workforce.

“For nearly two decades, On Point has provided support at every level of the transition from high school to college.  This support doesn’t end when students are accepted at college.  Many of the participants do not have parents in their lives, and On Point provides the support they need not only to get into college, but to stay there and to thrive.  It is a unique program that serves many young people in the Mohawk Valley, and I am pleased to have secured funding so it can continue,” Brindisi said.

“I would like to thank Assemblyman Brindisi for his support of the legislative initiative to help over 400 young people get the support they need to be successful in their post-secondary endeavors,” said Sam Rowser, Executive Director of On Point for College.

Since 1999, On Point has helped over 5,800 students to enroll in college, and over $26 million in annual tuition dollars to colleges and universities—97 percent of which are in New York State.
