Boonville-Oneida County Fair Board Hosts Free Day for 1,000 Children in Oneida County Youth Program

ORISKANY, NEW YORK: The Boonville-Oneida County Fair Board, in partnership with Oneida
County Executive Anthony J. Picente Jr., Oneida County Board Legislators, and Cornell
Cooperative Extension (CCE), proudly hosted a free day at the fair for 1,000 children
participating in the Oneida County Youth Program. This special event, held on July 24th, was designed to provide an enriching and fun experience for local youth. Throughout the day, children had the opportunity to explore and take part in a variety of free educational games and activities in the Exhibit Hall. They were also treated to exciting Grandstand Shows and had the chance to watch the impressive 4-H Animal Shows,
which featured a variety of animals and showcased the hard work of young local farmers.
Additionally, the kids enjoyed unlimited access to the Coleman Brothers Rides, with every child receiving a wristband for the carnival rides. Food vouchers were also provided, allowing the children to savor a wide array of delicious fair food, from classic cotton candy to savory corndogs. CCE played a significant role in organizing the event. They set up numerous tables and activities
aimed at engaging the youth and promoting hands-on learning experiences. These activities not
only entertained the children but also educated them on various topics such as agriculture,
science, and nutrition.
This collaborative effort between the Fair Board, local government officials, and community
organizations underscores the commitment to providing positive experiences for the youth of Oneida County. The day was filled with laughter, learning, and memorable moments that the children will cherish for years to come.
Mary Beth McEwen, Executive Director of CCE Oneida, expressed her gratitude, stating, "e;It is wonderful to see our community come together to support our youth. This event provided a safe and enjoyable environment for the children to learn, play, and create lasting memories.
