Bestselling Author/Gardener to Speak on “The World of Laura Ingalls” Environment in Hamilton College Arboretum Series

The Hamilton College Arboretum’s 2017-18 Saturday Speaker series concludes on Saturday, April 28, with Marta McDowell, author and horticulturist. She will present “The World of Laura Ingalls” at 10 a.m. in the Taylor Science Center’s Kennedy Auditorium on Hamilton College’s campus. This lecture is free and open to the public.

McDowell will discuss her most recent book, The World of Laura Ingalls Wilder, which explores the environment of the Little House series’ author. McDowell also wrote All the Presidents’ Gardens, which made The New York Times bestseller list and won an American Horticultural Society book award.

A charismatic lecturer, she teaches horticulture and landscape history at the New York Botanical Garden where she has been named “Instructor of the Year” twice. She presents around the world, speaking at locations that range from the Chicago Botanic Garden to the Sloane Club in London.

McDowell is on the board of the New Jersey Historical Garden Foundation and is the 2016 Annual Award recipient from the Friends of Frelinghuysen Arboretum.

Parking is available near the building. All Arboretum events are free and open to the public, and everyone interested in gardens and landscapes is encouraged to attend. Pre-registration is not required.
