
A benefit will be held for Gavin Maloney on Saturday, October 6th at the Rome Elks Lodge, 126 West Liberty Street in Rome, NY.
Gavin is a 25-year-old young man who was paralyzed recently in a diving accident on Oneida Lake. Gavin sustained injuries to his C5, C6, and C7 vertebrae, leading to paralysis below the waist. Gavin is currently at rehab at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital in Boston. Gavin is determined to walk again but he and his family need help with the substantial finances involved for both his medical treatment and rehabilitation.
Gavin was born and raised in the heart of Central New York. He is a fresh graduate of Alfred State University with an Associate’s Degree in Masonry. During summers Gavin works as a mason and a landscaper across CNY and in the winter he spends time workin on the slopes of Woods Valley Ski Resort.
The benefit will consist of two main events. The first is a 32-team double elimination Cornhole tournament. The entry fee is $30. Interested parties can sign their team up at the Elks Club, The Palisades, or The Mill. The second event consist of music from the local band Work Related which will begin at 7 PM. The all-day event will features food, face painting, bounce house, and raffle items.
