B Sharp Musical Club wraps 2024-5 Season at Grace Church  Scholarship Winners Announced

The B Sharp Musical Club concluded its’ 122nd year of musical performances with its’ season-ending concert “Summer Sounds”  Monday, July 7 at Grace Episcopal Church in Utica.

The concert’s music  followed its’ title inference , presenting an eclectic mix of musical fare which surrounded the audience with an atmosphere of  sunny days and warm, light breeze in sharp contest to the thunder and deluge which attendees  encountered on route to the event.Claire Wilcox, violinist.

Featured  performers included singers Holly McCormack, Rachel Harris, and John Krause; string players Claire Wilcox, Alyson Sklar, Margie Morgan-Davies, and Joanna Robertson. Collaborative pianists Greg Unangst, John Krause, and Fiona Peters also appeared on the concert. Singers performed  arias by Puccini and Mascagni, as well as art songs like “Memory:” from “Cats” by American composers including  works by Clinton, NY native Ben Moore.    Other contributions to the concert were a  violin solos by  Astor Piazzolla, and a string trio by Beethoven.

A highlight of the evening was the announcement of B Sharp’s latest scholarship winners. The winner of the Third Annual Mary Sheila McIntyre Piano Scholarship is Jonathan Burgdorf of Rome, NY. The winners of the inaugural Robert B. Pecci Scholarships are Dominic Fiacco and Madilyn Connor, both of Poland, NY.
