Attempted break in, gunshot at SU housing under investigation

A group of teenagers allegedly fired a gun while attempting to break into the University Village Apartments on Syracuse University’s South Campus early Sunday morning.

The school’s Department of Public Safety says students saw a group of eight young male teenagers with no affiliation to the university trying to break in. Students confronted the teenagers, seizing one of them while the others took off.

While waiting for police to arrive, the students said the group of teens returned, with one suspect firing a gunshot into the air. No injuries were reported and no descriptions were made available.

Anyone with information about what happened can call the Syracuse Police Department or Syracuse University DPS.
