As Valentine’s Day approaches, Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon continues her commitment to honoring our nation’s veterans with a heartfelt initiative.
This year, Assemblywoman Buttenschon distributed approximately 300 Valentine’s Day cards, created by schoolchildren across the 119th Assembly District. These cards, filled with personal messages and creative designs, remind veterans of their community’s gratitude and appreciation for their service.
Assemblywoman Buttenschon invited schools throughout her district to take part in the project, encouraging students of all ages to craft Valentine’s cards for local veterans. The response was overwhelmingly positive, with contributions from schools across the region, including the Rome City School District, Utica City School District, Whitesboro Central School District, New York Mills Union Free School District, Notre Dame High School, Westmoreland Central School District, and New York State School for the Deaf.
“I want to thank all the students and educators who participated in this meaningful effort,” said Assemblywoman Buttenschon. “Our veterans deserve to feel appreciated and recognized year-round. These Valentine’s Day cards are a beautiful gesture that shows them they are remembered and respected. This initiative also instills in younger generations the importance of honoring those who served for our freedoms.”
The cards were delivered between February 5 and February 13 to ensure veterans across the community receive them in time for Valentine’s Day. This initiative is a simple but impactful reminder to veterans that their sacrifices are recognized and appreciated by all generations.
