As COVID-19 pandemic continues, CDC issues reminder about flu season

As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, the CDC is reminding people not to forget about flu season.

The agency says it is seeing increased flu activity among young adults and college students.

Health officials are concerned that with the flu and COVID-19 both circulating, it could stress healthcare systems across the country. They say they’re anticipating an increase in flu virus cases this winter with fewer people getting flu shots. They’re warning doctors to be on the lookout for cases and encouraging them to offer the vaccine to all those who are eligible.

This comes after a mild flu season last year when many were staying home.

Flu vaccines are available to anyone 6 months of age and older.

CVS and Walgreens stores are offering same-day appointments for flu shots.
