Munson-Williams-Proctor Arts Institute (Munson) is welcoming acclaimed multidisciplinary artist and author Ella Weber for a special book talk and signing on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at 4 p.m. in the Museum of Art’s Sinnott Family – Bank of Utica Auditorium.
This free public event offers a unique opportunity to hear Weber discuss her debut novel, The Deli Diaries, a humorous yet poignant look into the realities of working-class life through the eyes of a struggling artist turned deli clerk.
Meet Ella Weber: An Artist with a Story to Tell
Known for her witty and thought-provoking storytelling, Weber combines humor, everyday observations, and artistic vision in her work. With an MFA in printmaking from the University of Kansas, she has developed a dynamic artistic career that includes residencies at Munson and other prestigious institutions.
Her book, The Deli Diaries, is a sharp and heartfelt novel that follows Della, a young art graduate drowning in student debt, who moves back into her parents’ basement in suburban Nebraska and takes what she believes to be a “temporary” job as a deli clerk. Through mundane shifts, eccentric coworkers, and corporate absurdities, she finds unexpected inspiration—and perhaps a new understanding of life itself.
