American Red Cross Partners With Rome Agencies

 ROME, NY (JULY 23, 2024)- In the wake of the devastating tornadoes that struck the Rome region last week, the American Red Cross is partnering with a variety of agencies in the City of Rome and Oneida County to provide a list of resources and assistance available to those affected by the storms.
 
Below is a list of agencies and the resources they have available, along with contact information. The list is current as of 9AM July 23. In addition, the Red Cross shelter at the Aviation Center, 394 Hangar Road in Rome, remains open 24 hours a day.

RCoC has mall business grants for those affected by the tornadoes. Applications for these grants must be submitted and reviewed. 
City of Rome

 Rome may have free dry ice and may provide financial assistance case-by-case.  
Oneida County Department of Social Services

OC DSS can assist with applying for SNAP and other temporary benefit programs. 
Rome Housing Authority

 Rome Housing Authority can assist with housing vouchers on a case-by-case basis.

United Way 2-1-1 
 
Contact United Way to ask for information, connection to other resources, and referrals to specific governmental and nonprofit services. Remember to state that you have been affected by the tornadoes.

Connected Community School

Connected Community School may be able to provide diapers, body wipes, and personal hygiene products. Free breakfast from 9-10am, lunch from 12-2pm, dinner from 4-6pm. 
Salvation Army

Can provide vouchers to Salvation Army thrift stores. Mental health and spiritual care services are also available. Has free breakfast and lunch items and water available. May be able to assist with needs for clothing and other household supplies on a case-by-case basis. 
South Rome Senior Center 
112 Ridge Street, Rome

Griffis Child Development Center

Cooling center available with internet access, snacks waters and other supplies.
