A Haunting Halloween Night at Old Main Hospital
By David Laguerre
The crisp autumn air hung heavy with the promise of Halloween as I trudged through the fog-shrouded grounds of Old Main Hospital. A foolish bet had landed me here, trapped in a decaying relic of the past. The once-proud institution now loomed over me, its silhouette stark against the moonlit sky.
As I ventured deeper into the hospital, the air grew colder, and the shadows seemed to dance and shift. A sudden gust of wind extinguished the few remaining lights, plunging me into complete darkness. A blood-curdling scream echoed through the halls, sending chills down my spine. I fumbled for my phone, its dim light barely piercing the darkness.
Just as I thought I was alone, a shadowy figure emerged from the gloom. Its eyes glowed with an eerie, otherworldly light, and its form was distorted, almost inhuman. It moved with a silent grace, its every step deliberate and purposeful.
Fear gripped me, but I knew I had to stand my ground. I raised my phone, its light illuminating the creature’s grotesque features. It let out a guttural growl, its eyes narrowing in anger. With a sudden burst of speed, it lunged forward, its claws outstretched.
I dodged the attack, but the creature was relentless. It pursued me through the darkened corridors, its growls echoing through the silent halls. I ran for my life, my heart pounding in my chest. I burst through a heavy wooden door, slamming it shut behind me. Panting heavily, I leaned against the wall, my eyes scanning the room for any sign of the creature. The room was empty, but the air was thick with tension. I could feel its presence, lurking in the shadows, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.
A sudden gust of wind extinguished the lights, plunging the room into darkness. I heard a low growl, followed by the sound of footsteps approaching. I squeezed my eyes shut, bracing myself for the inevitable.
Just when I thought all hope was lost, the lights flickered back on. The figure was gone, vanished into thin air. I stood there, trembling, my heart still racing. I had escaped the clutches of the unknown, but the experience had left an indelible mark on my soul.
As I made my way out of Old Main, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I was being watched. The darkness seemed to cling to me, whispering secrets of the horrors that had unfolded within these walls. I knew that I would never forget the night I encountered the terrifying creature, and the haunting memories would forever be etched into my mind.
The cold night air whipped around me as I stumbled out of Old Main, my heart still pounding from the ordeal. I hurried towards the parking lot, eager to escape the confines of the haunted building. However, as I approached my car, a wave of dread washed over me. The car wouldn’t start. No matter how many times I turned the key, the engine remained silent.
A sense of panic began to set in. The parking lot was deserted, the only sound the distant howl of the wind. I was stranded, alone, and vulnerable. The thought of walking home, through the darkened streets, filled me with fear. The tales of strange occurrences and shadowy figures that lurked in the night had always been dismissed as mere folklore. But now, in the dead of night, alone and helpless, those stories seemed all too real.
With a heavy sigh, I resigned myself to the long walk home. As I stepped out into the darkness, the wind howled around me, carrying with it an eerie chill. Every rustle of leaves, every creak of a tree branch, sent shivers down my spine. I kept my eyes fixed on the path ahead, hoping to avoid any unwanted encounters.
The further I walked, the more isolated and exposed I felt. The once familiar streets now seemed to stretch on endlessly, shrouded in an ominous darkness. The silence was broken only by the distant rumble of traffic and the occasional hoot of an owl.
As I rounded a corner, a sudden gust of wind extinguished the streetlights, plunging me into complete darkness. I froze, my heart pounding in my chest. A cold sweat broke out on my forehead as I strained to see through the darkness. A shadowy figure seemed to emerge from the gloom, its form indistinct and menacing.
Fear gripped me as I turned to flee, but it was too late. The figure lunged forward, its icy breath fanning my face. I screamed, but the sound was swallowed by the darkness. As the figure drew closer, I closed my eyes, bracing myself for the inevitable.
Suddenly, a primal instinct surged within me, a desperate will to survive. I opened my eyes, defiant, and met the creature’s gaze. Its eyes, glowing with an unnatural light, seemed to pierce my soul. With a surge of adrenaline, I lashed out, swinging my fist with all my might. The blow connected, and the creature recoiled, a low growl escaping its throat. It retaliated, its clawed hand reaching out to grab me. I dodged the attack, and in a swift motion, I delivered another blow, this time aimed at its head. The creature staggered backward, its grip loosening.
I seized the opportunity to break free. I sprinted away, the creature hot on my heels. I could hear its heavy footsteps pounding behind me, its growls echoing through the night. I ran with all the strength I could muster, my lungs burning, my legs aching.
Finally, I reached the safety of my neighborhood. I collapsed onto my front porch, gasping for breath. The creature had vanished, leaving me alone with the lingering fear and adrenaline. As I sat there, catching my breath, I couldn’t shake the feeling that I had narrowly escaped a fate worse than death. The experience had forever changed me, leaving an indelible mark on my soul.
The air hung heavy with tension as I cautiously approached my darkened house. My Beagles’ whimpers grew louder, filled with a sense of fear and confusion. I fumbled for my keys, my heart pounding in my chest. As I unlocked the door, a cold draft swept over me, carrying with it an unsettling chill.
I stepped inside, the darkness enveloping me. I called out to my dogs, but their whimpers were the only response. I flicked on the light switch, but the room remained shrouded in darkness. A strange, electrical hum filled the air, a low, ominous sound that sent shivers down my spine.
I grabbed a nearby lamp and slowly made my way through the house, each step a cautious, silent movement. The darkness seemed to press in on me, a suffocating presence that threatened to consume me. I reached my dogs’ room, the door slightly ajar. As I pushed it open, I saw a sight that made my blood run cold.
My dogs were huddled together in the corner, their eyes wide with terror. A dark, shadowy figure loomed over them, its form indistinct in the dim light. The figure turned slowly, its eyes glowing with a sinister, otherworldly light. I froze, my heart pounding in my chest.
The figure lunged forward, its outstretched hand reaching out to grab one of my dogs. I reacted instinctively, throwing the lamp at the creature. The lamp shattered, sending shards of glass flying. The figure recoiled, momentarily stunned.
I seized the opportunity to grab my dogs and flee. We raced through the house, the creature’s heavy footsteps echoing behind us. I burst through the front door, slamming it shut behind me. I could hear the creature’s angry growls, its frustration growing with each passing moment.
We ran down the street, my dogs clinging to me for protection. The cold night air whipped around us, but I barely felt it. My mind was racing, my heart pounding. I had escaped the creature’s clutches, but I knew it wouldn’t be the last I had seen of it. As we turned the corner, I glanced back at the house. A shadowy figure stood in the window, its eyes glowing with a sinister, otherworldly light. It watched us, its gaze following our every move. I knew then that the nightmare was far from over.
