Kirkland Art Center Exhibition explores all things Broken

CLINTON, NY — Over two dozen artists, most regional, bring their ideas around the concept of brokenness to the Kirkland Art Center starting March 21. A rare juried show offered by the Kirkland Art Center in Clinton, NY, the exhibition Broken was juried by Munson contemporary arts curator Mary Murray. A wide range of media, from painting to photography to sculpture, create a nuanced, thought-provoking look at a single idea from multiple perspectives.

The artworks featured in Broken explore the idea of being broken—emotionally, physically, socially, politically, ecologically, economically and systemically. Ideas, nations, people, dreams…so many things can be broken. To our collective sorrow and detriment, they often are. However, Broken also examines broken pieces not only as destruction, but as revelation or transformation. Here, brokenness is not solely defined by damage or loss, but as a moment of transformation, resistance, or quiet resilience. “Breaking through” is a positive outcome; breaking down barriers or breaking free present amazing opportunities.

Out of the pain of breaking can emerge something wonderful. Come enjoy some excitingly diverse artworks at the Kirkland Art Center, located at 9 ½ East Park Row in Clinton NY. The show opens with a reception to the public on Saturday March 21 from 1 – 4 p.m. All are welcome!
