HERKIMER, NY, February 20, 2026 — Herkimer County Community College announces the
appointment of Scott Scheible, who brings more than 15 years of higher education experience in continuing and professional education, workforce and economic development, career readiness, industry engagement, sales/business development, online learning, research administration, and fundraising. He has led a range of programs, projects, and initiatives across multiple colleges and universities, with a focus on aligning academic programming with workforce and industry needs.
Prior to joining Herkimer County Community College, Scheible served as deputy director of the Brooks Center for Infrastructure at Cornell University, an industry-aligned academic center focused on the intersection of infrastructure, emerging technology, and public policy. During his tenure at Cornell, he also led the career services office within the College of Architecture, Art, and Planning and advised experienced professionals exploring certificate programs in engineering, technology, and project management. Scheible previously served as director of continuing and professional education at SUNY Polytechnic Institute, where he led efforts to design and build a comprehensive continuing and professional education program aligned with regional workforce needs.
Earlier in his career, Scheible held roles at the University of Notre Dame and Carnegie Mellon University, where he developed and maintained recruiting relationships with leading employers across multiple industries and advised graduate students pursuing leadership roles in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors. Scheible holds a master’s degree in urban planning with a specialization in economic development from the University at Buffalo, a master’s degree in industrial and labor relations from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, and a bachelor’s degree in employment relations from SUNY Potsdam.
