Utica, N.Y. — Munson will host its winter break free Art Alive! Family Day from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30, featuring art-making activities for families in the Museum’s Root Court and an 11 a.m. performance and 1 p.m. workshop by The Super Scientific Circus in the Sinnott Family – Bank of Utica Auditorium. The Utica Children’s Mobile Museum will also be set up in the Root Court from noon–2 p.m. This event is free and open to the public.
The Super Scientific Circus blends the excitement of a circus with the wonders of science in a high-energy, interactive performance that entertains and educates audiences of all ages. Featuring juggling, clowning, and spectacular stunts, the show demonstrates scientific principles such as gravity, air pressure, and centripetal force through fun and visually engaging experiments. Whether launching objects with a seesaw or spinning plates to explain inertia, performers use humor and skill to spark curiosity and make science come alive. Ideal for school assemblies and family audiences, the Super Scientific Circus proves that science can be both fascinating and fun.
While you’re at the Museum, explore two inspiring exhibitions in their final weeks: Celestial Bodies by Karen LaMonte and Victorian Yuletide: Fancy Goods, both closing on Jan. 4, 2026.
Art Alive! Family Days at Munson are held during school breaks as a way of getting kids and their families connected and familiar with the Museum.
Funding for Art Alive! is provided by the MetLife Foundation, Utica National Foundation, Preferred Mutual Insurance Company, Sheila and Ron Cuccaro, and Rona Lucas, in memory of Roslyn and Irving Levine.
An American Sign Language interpreter will be on stage at the 11 a.m. performance.
