Recently at an event honoring John Zurlo in Plattsburgh New York 21st Congressional Rep Stefanik was booed mercilessly, forcing a premature exit from the stage.
The dedication was held in tribute to longtime Clinton County Clerk John Zurlo and the renaming of The County Office Building in his honor.
Stefanik stepped up to the podium and was immediately greeted with a cascade of boos by a chorus of protesters yelling TRAITOR and SHAME SHAME SHAME!!!! Flustered she hurriedly started her speech and was drowned out by the yells from the crowd.
Unable to continue, she swiftly exited the stage. Stefanik blamed the exit on radical far left sympathizers. But a number of on the spot interviews told another story. NBC 5 was told by protester Mavis Agnew “She has not shown up in our district for months and months… She won’t hold a town hall, she won’t take questions. She’s never in her office. People show up at her office constantly, door’s closed. Her representatives, her employees won’t talk to [us]… So this was her first appearance, the first opportunity we had to let her know we’re unhappy.” she said.
