MVCC to host Manufacturing Day to spotlight local manufacturers, highlight career opportunities

Mohawk Valley Community College will host Manufacturing Day (MFG Day) from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2024, at the Robert R. Jorgensen Center Field House on its Utica Campus. This free event is open to students, job seekers, and employers, and will spotlight the rapidly growing advanced manufacturing industry, along with the diverse, high-paying career opportunities available in the Mohawk Valley. With an estimated 3.8 million new manufacturing jobs expected to be filled in the U.S. over the next decade, MFG Day aims to raise awareness of these dynamic career paths, benefitting companies, community leaders, high school and college students, and manufacturing associations from across New York State. The event will showcase more than 50 local employers, including Indium Corporation, Wolfspeed, Giotto Enterprises, Riverhawk Company, Worthington Steel, and Meyda Lighting, as well as various educational pathways and a range of hands-on exhibits and demonstrations. • Interactive exhibits featuring products and technologies made in New York State.
• Workforce development exhibits connecting job seekers directly with manufacturers.
• Hands-on demonstrations designed to help students understand career opportunities in manufacturing.
• Educational exhibits spotlighting various MVCC programs that prepare students for careers in the manufacturing sector.
• Guided tours of MVCC’s labs and maker spaces, offering a behind-the-scenes look at state-of-the-art facilities.
