Assemblywoman Buttenschon Announces Partnership with Utica Comets and Utica City Football Club for Fifth Annual Winter Accessories Drive

Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon (D-119) today announced the launch of her fifth annual Winter Accessories Drive, in collaboration with the Utica Comets and Utica City Football Club. This important community initiative seeks to collect new hats, gloves, mittens, and scarves for children and adults in need across the Mohawk Valley. Donations will be gathered at upcoming Utica Comets and Utica FC home games at
the Adirondack Bank Center at the Utica Memorial Auditorium.

Assemblywoman Buttenschon stated: “Every year the Utica Comets, Utica City Football Club, and their fans are generous to the children of our community. I am honored to partner with them annually as they truly care about the families in the Mohawk Valley. Thank you to all the leadership and staff at the Utica Comets and Utica City
Football club!”
The Winter Accessories Drive will accept donations through December 5, 2024. Fans attending the designated Utica Comets and Utica FC games are encouraged to bring new winter accessories to donation boxes located in
the main entranceways of the Adirondack Bank Center. Additionally, items may be dropped off at Assemblywoman Buttenschon’s District Office located at 207 Genesee Street in the Utica State Office Building,from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

The Utica Comets and Save of the Day Foundation commented: “The Comets organization is proud to be part of this initiative. Assemblywoman Marianme Buttenschon always does a wonderful job helping those in need. The team, our staff and fans are always ready to help.” Utica City Football Club added: “Utica City FC is honored to support the hat, mitten and scarf drive, bringing warmth and comfort to those in need this winter. This is a tradition for our organization, and we are always excited to partner with the Comets, the Save of the Day Foundation and Assemblywoman Buttenschon.”

Melissa Roys, Co-Leader Connected Community Schools commented, “Connected Community Schools have had an impact on our communities, families, students and classrooms because of what Assemblywoman
Buttenschon has stated so many times, ‘We are better Together’.” “We are humbled by the support we have continued to get from our local community, we have families that struggle and appreciate when some of that pressure is relieved by the help of others. We thank Assemblywoman Buttenschon again, for her unwavering support of our initiative and the thousands of students and families we positively impact together.”
Donation boxes will be available during the following home games: Utica Comets games: October 11, October 12, October 26, November 1, November 2, November 8, November 11,November 16, November 27

Assemblywoman Buttenschon concluded: “This initiative is about more than just donating winter accessories. It is about fostering a sense of unity and compassion within our community. Together, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of our neighbors.”
