On Wednesday, April 3 at 1:30 p.m., government officials, donors, staff, and children of the Thea Bowman House, will hold a groundbreaking ceremony for a new elevator. The event will be held at Thea Bowman’s DeSales Center location, 309 Genesee Street, Utica.

Estimated at more than $1.2 million, the addition of the elevator will make the DeSales Center accessible to the public, staff, and children with varying disabilities. Several not-for-profit organizations have shown interest in renting out space on the top floor of the Center once it is accessible. Renting these spaces would provide room for local agencies to grow while generating much-needed revenue for Thea Bowman House.
