Actress Tiffany Haddish told E!’s Daily Pop that she still plans on becoming a parent.
After a visit to Eritrea, located in East Africa, Haddish told co-host Justin Sylvester that “people were trying to give [her] their kids.”
“I was like, ‘Hold up now, I gotta get the paperwork right now. I can’t just be taking kids with me,’” the 42-year-old actress said.
Haddish has expressed an interest in expanding her family through adoption although she said, “Not right now, but maybe at the end of the year, beginning of next year.”
The actress, who grew up in foster care, has always been open about wanting to adopt, People reports.
She also told Daily Pop in May that she wouldn’t consider other options such as surrogacy.
“I don’t wanna pay nobody to carry my baby neither, ’cause then I have to go through a process of giving myself injections and all that stuff,” she said. “And I already gave up — here goes something everybody don’t know, I’m gonna tell you: When I was 21 I was really hard up for some money and I gave up a bunch of eggs.”
“So who knows, I might got some kids out here in these streets. I doubt it, though, because I never got the bonus. Maybe somewhere though, in cryo somewhere,” the comedic actress joked.
Haddish enrolled in parenting classes to assist her on the motherhood journey. She said she prefers a child possibly between the ages of 5 and 7 due to their developmental stage.
“I want them to be able to know how to use the restroom on their own and talk,” the actress said. “I want them to know that I put in the work and I wanted them.”
