Two more Albany County residents died of COVID-19 on Saturday, and another on Sunday, according to Albany County Executive Dan McCoy.
One man in his 40s, another a woman in her 70s, and the last a woman in her 60s. The county is not saying whether they were vaccinated.
That brings the county’s death toll to 452.
Saturday marked the fourth straight day that more than 200 new cases were reported. On Sunday, the county executive reported 168 new cases, bringing the total active cases to 708.
COVID-19 cases are rapidly rising in Schoharie County as well. County officials expect cases to continue to rise as we move through the holiday season.
The county says it has still not seen the post-Thanksgiving COVID-19 peak. hey are asking everyone to get boosted.
The Capital Region is sitting at an overall positivity rate of 8.1%, as of Sunday.
Columbia and Greene counties have the highest passivity rates in the area with Columbia County at 12% and Greene County coming in at 11%, as of Saturday.
