Remember the F.W. Woolworth’s Department Store in Downtown Utica back in the day? Remember the Pet Department of Woolworth’s full of birds, fish, hamsters, gerbils and turtles? Well, Larry Cohen’s late mother, Ruth, bought her son a turtle at the Downtown Utica F. W. Woolworths in 1970. At that time, “Poopsie” (rhymes with oopsie) was the size of a quarter. Today Poopsie weighs over 10 pounds and measures over 12 inches from head to toe!Larry Cohen’s turtle, reached 51 years of age on Sept 15th 2021. There is a turtle sized party for Poopsie each year and this year was no exception. Keeping with the times of the 1970’s, a Hostess Cupcake was his birthday cake.
