Albany, NY — In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, the New York State Department of Veterans’ Services (DVS) proudly presents “We Were Always There: DVS Honors the Legacy of Hispanic & Latine Veterans,” a special virtual program taking place Tuesday, October 14, 2025, at 11:00 AM EST.
Moderated by Dr. Lessie Branch, DVS Special Assistant for Community Engagement, this dynamic event will highlight the courage, resilience, and patriotism of Hispanic and Latine Veterans whose service has strengthened our nation across generations.
“New York’s Hispanic and Latine Veterans have proudly answered the call to serve in every chapter of our nation’s story,” Viviana M. DeCohen, Commissioner of the New York State Department of Veterans’ Services, said. “Their service reflects not only bravery in battle, but the enduring power of culture, community, and commitment to country. During Hispanic Heritage Month, we honor their legacy and reaffirm our promise to serve all who served.”
Attendees will hear inspiring personal stories, explore the history of Hispanic and Latine military service, and celebrate the lasting impact of these Veterans on the fabric of American life.
