Utica, N.Y. — Experience Munson’s Arts Festival, the area’s longest-running summertime celebration of arts and community, as it kicks off Saturday, July 11, with the Munson Community Car Show and Fountain Elms Invitational. The Arts Festival runs through Sunday, July 19, with engaging demonstrations, crafts for kids, concerts, special events, and the Festival’s centerpiece, the Festival Art Show, available throughout the week.

Enjoy the Festival Art Show once again inside the Museum of Art Root Court, and mark your calendar for additional events, including the 11th Annual Big Ol’ Steamrollin’ Prints Invitational on Thursday, July 17, in the front of the Museum and on the front lawn. The 16th Annual Oneida County Youth Bureau Sidewalk Chalk Art Competition will take place in Palmer Park off of State Street also on Thursday, July 16.
Returning popular events include the second annual Puppy Parade and a foam party for kids. On Friday, July 17, the Museum’s front lawn will host a DJ and Karaoke night with DJ Bizznez and Amos Donnell, and on Saturday, July 18, Munson welcomes back Hilda Jordan and Baile y Cultura for a Latin Dance Party where dancers of all levels can learn and enjoy merengue, bachata, and salsa in a fun, bilingual celebration. Both evening celebrations include a cash bar under the tent.
Explore Munson’s dynamic feature exhibition, “Watercolor Stories: Art of Charles E. Burchfield,” on view in the Dr. William L. Boyle, Jr. Gallery. Admission is $8 for the general public and free for Munson Members. Guided tours are available daily at 1 p.m. during the festival and are free for members and $5 for non-members.
While inside the Museum of Art, celebrate the opening of a Pratt Munson alumni exhibition, “Paradigm/Delusion/Chaos/Luck” by Holly Heckler ’11, on Saturday, July 11, with a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Pratt Munson Gallery.
