UTICA – Mohawk Valley Community College librarian Jocelyn Ireland has received a regional award recognizing her work to make academic help easier for students to reach.
Ireland, an instructional design librarian and associate professor, was named the Central New York Library Resources Council’s 2026 Library Staff All-Star. The award was announced at the council’s October 13 conference, MVCC said in an October 30 news release.
The council serves Oneida, Herkimer, Madison and Onondaga counties. Judges from outside those counties unanimously chose Ireland, according to the college.
Bringing library help closer to students
MVCC said Ireland works from a service desk in its Learning Commons, near tutoring, academic resources and accessibility services. That puts library help in a place where students may already be seeking other support.
The college said she also arranges help outside traditional working hours for students juggling school, jobs, family responsibilities and transportation needs.

A separate honor from this summer’s award
Ireland also received the Friend of SUNY Librarians Association Award this year. The Phoenix reported on that separate recognition in August.
MVCC said her SUNYLA leadership has included serving as president in 2022. The newly announced CLRC honor focuses on library service in the four-county region.
