HUNDREDS OF DISABILITY ADVOCATES  TO RALLY AT STATE CAPITOL

ALBANY, NY — Hundreds of disability advocates, care workers, providers, members of the New York State Legislature, and families from across New York State will rally at the Capitol on March 10 at 11:30 a.m. to urge lawmakers to include critical investments in the SFY 2026–27 Executive Budget.

New York Disability Advocates (NYDA), a statewide coalition representing more than 300 nonprofit provider organizations, is calling on legislators to enact its CareForce Affordability Agenda and implement financial protections to stabilize and strengthen the workforce that supports people with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD).

NYDA is urging lawmakers to include:

  • A 2.7% Targeted Inflationary Increase

  • Strategic CareForce affordability initiatives to enhance childcare, housing, and healthcare supports for direct support professionals

Advocates say these investments are essential to address workforce shortages, rising costs, and growing service demands to ensure New Yorkers with disabilities can access the care and support they need.
