Buttenschon Will Not seek Re-Election

Utica, NY – “After careful deliberation, I have decided not seek re-election as a member of the New York State Assembly in the 119th Assembly District. I have had the distinct honor and privilege of representing the 119th Assembly District, my lifelong home and the best district in the state. I want to express sincere gratitude and the utmost appreciation to my family, office staff, friends, new friends, fellow elected officials, and the many constituents for your endless support, guidance, and mentorship during my tenure. “I am incredibly proud and will continue to work towards the resources and legislation that my office has brought forward during my tenure in the Assembly. I was honored to help draft and pass legislation for our veterans, first responders, our youth, and seniors, to name a few.

“While these legislative and resource wins are important, the most rewarding part of my job has always been engaging directly with residents and business owners in the 119th Assembly District. Whether it be a large business or school visit, attending a community event, welcoming and touring a new small business, or speaking with fellow residents, I have always prioritized and enjoyed meeting with constituents. My office offers premier
constituent services, whether solving problems with state agencies, expediting needs, assisting large and small businesses, not-for-profits, and our schools and colleges with funding requests, helping veterans get their benefits, cutting through red tape to solve problems, and so much more, my team and I have worked diligently each day to
advocate and deliver for our residents.

“For my entire career, I have made it my mission to mentor and guide the next generation. In fact, when I talk with students, I ask them what they want to do today to make a difference in this world. We are so fortunate in the 119th District that there are dozens of talented leaders, advocates, and organizers who know our community and who are ready to lead the charge as we fight for our district’s needs.”
“To the people of the Mohawk Valley, thank you for allowing me to be your voice in the Assembly. I have tried to serve you each and every day with the integrity, respect, and strong perseverance you deserve. It truly is the honor of a lifetime!

“To my staff, past and present, I could not have done this without you. Thank you for your dedication, sacrifices, expertise, and support. Together, we were able to make a difference.

“And to my family, thank you for always being there with me. I am looking forward to spending more family time together as I enter this new chapter of life. I love you.”

“While I will truly miss serving the people of the 119th District in this elected capacity, I am not going anywhere. For the remainder of my term, and beyond, I will continue taking every opportunity possible to support my community and once the people decide my successor, I am here for you.”
