Hiawatha Institute Bids On Former Wells College

A partnership has been created to put forth a renewed purchase offer for the Wells College campus in Aurora, NY. Paul Warshauer, Chairman of Grande Venues, and Les Lo Baugh, President of the Hiawatha Institute for Indigenous Knowledge, sent their proposal to realtor CBRE on Tuesday.

The pair had submitted a previous purchase offer with a third partner to meet an earlier deadline of March 13. They were notified by CBRE on March 21 that the terms had been changed substantially and made more challenging. A new deadline was set for March 25 at 5 pm.

The new property proposal includes space for the Hiawatha Institute in Aurora, planned development of apartment housing for seniors, and use of existing facilities by a college, school or other educational institution. (An International Baccalaureate program was part of the original proposal, but has been removed in the revision.)

The revised proposal offers a significant financial commitment to purchase, rehabilitate and re-purpose the Wells campus. It is attached below.
