ROME, N.Y. – January 6, 2025 – Sovena USA of Rome, one of the largest olive oil companies in the world, recently donated over 250 bottles of oil, and $15,000 total to local charities over the holidays.
This holiday season, Sovena donated different kinds of oil, including their Olivari Extra Virgin Olive Oil, Olivari Avocado Oil, Olivari Chef’s Selection Extra Virgin Olive Oil, and Gem Canola Oil to Feed Our Vets, Utica Rescue Mission, Rome Rescue Mission, and Rome Salvation Army. They donated $15,000 total to these organizations as well. All the donations were made on behalf of Sovena’s employees.
“Each year, we are proud to be able to support our own employees and those in the community who may need it most. Our mission at Sovena is to bring the plate closer to the land, to support our communities, to foster growth in all areas of business and in our employees’ lives and to make a difference whenever and wherever we can” says David Winberg, director of human resources at Sovena USA.
In addition to these donations, Sovena USA donated dozens of turkeys to the Rome Rescue Mission and Utica Rescue Mission around Thanksgiving. Sovena gave their employees each a 20+ lb turkey and donated the remainder to local food banks in order to extend the reach of their support for their community.
The Utica and Rome Rescue Missions offer services for their communities’ needs, including emergency shelter, meals, supportive permanent housing, employment resources and spiritual care. Feed Our Vets provides free food assistance to more than 20,000 veterans and their family members. The Salvation Army is present in 133 countries, running charity shops, operating shelters for the homeless and disaster relief, and humanitarian aid to developing countries.
