
State Police in Troop G make notable DWI arrests 12/28- 1/2
On December 28, 2024, at about 8:48 p.m., State Police of Brunswick stopped a vehicle on State Route 2 in Petersburgh, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Ashley Bolster, 43, of Danbury, CT. Bolster was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. She was transported to SP Brunswick for processing, where she recorded a 0.22% BAC. Bolster was issued tickets returnable to the Petersburgh Town Court on February 11, 2025, and released to a sober third party.
On December 28, 2024, at about 10:20 p.m., State Police of Cobleskill responded to the reports of a one-car crash into a building in the area of State Route 145 in Cobleskill, NY. The uninjured driver was identified as Jaylene R. Mclaughlin, 32, of Cobleskill, NY. The investigation determined Mclaughlin was northbound on State Route 145 when she exited the roadway and struck multiple homes and a parked vehicle. Mclaughlin was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. She was transported to SP Princetown for processing, where she refused to provide a sample to determine the alcohol content of her blood. Further investigation determined Mclaughlin has had a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years. She was turned over to the Schoharie County Correctional Facility to await arraignment. No bystanders were injured during the crash.
On December 20, 2024, at about 6:15 p.m., State Police of Brunswick stopped a vehicle on State Route 2 in Brunswick, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Nicholas M. Chura, 34, of Averill Park, NY. Chura was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. He was transported to SP Brunswick for processing, where he recorded a 0.18% BAC. Chura was issued tickets returnable to the Brunswick Town Court on January 15, 2025, and released to a sober third party.
On January 1, 2025, at about 6:43 p.m., State Police of Saratoga responded to the reports of a hit-and-run crash in the area of Cheery Choke Road in Malta, NY. The driver was located in the area of State Route 9 in Malta, NY, and identified as Robert J. Dudley, 51, of Gansevoort, NY. Dudley was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and transported to SP Clifton Park for processing, where he recorded a 0.20% BAC. Dudley was issued tickets returnable to the Malta Town Court on February 6, 2025, and released to a sober third party.
On January 1, 2025, at about 9:23 p.m., State Police of the Northway Interstate Patrol stopped a vehicle on I-87 in Clifton Park, NY, for a Vehicle and Traffic Law violation. The driver was identified as Timothy S. Whalen, 55, of Glens Falls, NY. Whalen was found to have a revoked driver’s license due to a previous DWI conviction in the last ten years. He was arrested for Driving While Ability impaired by Drugs, Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the first degree and other Vehicle and Traffic Law violations. Whalen was transported to SP Clifton Park for processing, where he was evaluated by a Drug Recognition Expert (DRE), and a sample was collected to determine the drug contents of his blood. He was issued tickets returnable to the Clifton Park Town Court on January 15, 2025, and released to a sober third party.
State Police Arrest Malboro Man for DWI Following a Collision with a Troop Car in the Town of Lloyd

On January 1, 2025, at approximately 2:52 a.m., troopers from the State Police Highland Barracks conducted a vehicle and traffic law stop with all emergency lights activated of a 2016 Volkswagen on State Route 44/55 in the town of Lloyd.
During the traffic stop, a 2025 Volkswagen travelling on SR 44/55 crashed into the rear the State Police patrol vehicle, pushing it into the 2016 Volkswagen.
Troopers interviewed the driver and sole occupant of the 2025 Volkswagen, Jesse Peck, age 36, of Malboro, NY. While interviewing Peck, troopers detected a strong odor of alcoholic beverage. Peck submitted to field sobriety tests which he subsequently failed and was placed under arrest for Driving While Intoxicated.
Peck provided a sample breath indicating a blood/alcohol content of 0.16% and was additionally charged with Operate Motor Vehicle With 0.08 of 1% Alcohol or More in Blood. Peck was issued traffic tickets and an appearance ticket returnable to the Lloyd Town Court on January 21, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
A 27-year-old female and a 23-year-old male passenger from the 2016 Volkswagen were transported to Dutchess Vassar Brothers Hospital with minor injuries. Two troopers were transported to Mid-Hudson Hospital with minor injuries.
State Police arrest two individuals for incident at the Ulster Travel Plaza on the NYS Thruway
The New York State Police, Troop F Bureau of Criminal Investigation, announces the arrests of Jeffrey D. Blount, age 34, of Utica, NY and Kevin Smalls, age 31, of Utica,NY, following an incident at the Ulster Travel Plaza on Interstate 87, known as the New York State Thruway.
On January 2, 2025, at approximately 3:00 a.m., Troopers responded to the Ulster Travel Plaza on Interstate 87 south for a report of a 27-year-old woman being held against her will. Upon arrival, the preliminary investigation determined that the victim had left the location in a vehicle that continued southbound on Interstate 87. Troopers were able to locate the vehicle in Orange County, NY, where the 27-year-old female victim, from Utica, NY, was found unharmed.
Blount was arrested without incident and charged with Unlawful Imprisonment in the 2nd Degree (A misdemeanor). Smalls was also arrested without incident and charged with Forcible Touching (A misdemeanor). Blount was arraigned at the Ulster County Court Centralized Arraignment Part and released on his own recognizance. Smalls was issued an Appearance Ticket to appear in the Town of Ulster Court on January 7, 2025.
Both suspects were known to the victim, and there is no ongoing threat to public safety.
