In this episode of Hot Seat: Media Monday, Sarah Marris-Swann from Utica Creative Reuse and Pat Joseph from Building Stones Fair Trade Shoppe join me for a Black Friday-week conversation about being a conscientious consumer by considering sustainability and economic ethics when making purchases. Utica Creative Reuse is a nonprofit art supply thrift store offering free workshops. They aim to “promote creativity, community, and environmental stewardship.” Building Stones Fair Trade Shoppe is a mission of Stone Presbyterian Church in Clinton that promotes the social and economic progress of people in developing regions of the world and impoverished areas in the U.S. They sell ethically sourced items from a diverse network of responsible companies that empower farmers and workers while protecting the environment.
