Can’t we have a normal member of Congress?
I’m old enough to remember the good ole days of 2019 and 2020 when NY22 had a normal member of Congress in Anthony Brindisi. He loved talking to people all across the district, holding town halls where people of all political stripes got to discuss issues and share their concerns directly with him, and got bills signed into law like the SPOONS Act that helped Sherrill Manufacturing with new government contracts. Those were the days.
Then reality breaks through the nostalgia because we currently have MAGA Republican Brandon Williams as our member of Congress. What is he known for? Williams is known for aggressively berating and threatening former staff at a holiday party. He flees after monologue town halls instead of shaking hands he turns his back on constituent who reached out to shake hands. He avoids meeting with communities of color at all costs. He’s even in headlines with the word “OnlyFans.” Williams made national news that made us say “what the hell?!” when he said during a looming government shutdown he would still get paid but the furloughed workers shouldn’t expect sympathy. He delivered $0 in appropriations funds for Oneida County; he can’t even bring home the bacon. He repeats divisive, charged rhetoric that reveals how much he despises Democrats, which makes sense because he scored as the most partisan NY Republican Congressmember this session.
Can we please trade this heartless man who is terrible at representing NY22 for a new member of Congress? Yes, yes we can, and on November 5th in fact. Cast your ballot for John Mannion and send Brandon Williams back to live happily ever after on his truffle farm.
