Plan, Prepare, Plant! Workshop & Dahlia Sale by CCE of Oneida County

ORISKANY, NEW YORK: Cornell Cooperative Extension of Oneida County (CCE) will be
hosting a gardening workshop followed by a Dahlia sale on May 18, 2024, from 10:00am to
2:00pm.
Join the Master Gardener Volunteers at CCE of Oneida County for a hands-on workshop where you’ll learn tips and techniques for a successful garden season. All participants will leave the session with a tomato plant and 2-gallon fabric container planter.

Registration is required to attend the Plan, Prepare, Plant Workshop with a cost of $12. The
deadline to register is May 16th. The workshop will take place at the CCE Oneida Farm & Home Center, 121 Second Street Oriskany, NY 13424 from 10:00am to 11:30am.

Following the workshop, Master Gardener Volunteers will be hosting a Dahlia sale from
11:30am to 2:00pm which will be open to the public. Over 20 varieties of Dahlia will be
available for purchase. Proceeds of all Dahlias sold will go into the Parker F. Scripture Botanical Gardens onsite and to the Master Gardener Program.

Master Gardener Volunteers will also accept soil samples for pH testing, which will cost $2.
Please bring a plastic bag (sandwich sized Ziplock) of soil with you for this service. Results will be sent back to you the week after the event.

The Master Gardener Program is a national program of trained volunteers who work in
partnership with their county Cooperative Extension office to expand educational outreach
throughout the community by providing home gardeners with research-based information.
Master Gardener Volunteers assist with gardening projects in the community, teach classes/workshops, provide information/soil pH testing at events, and answer gardening
questions.

“The Parker F. Scripture Botanical Gardens is open for viewing free of charge to the
community.” Holly Wise, Consumer Horticulture Resource Educator said, “The Master Gardener Volunteers can’t wait to get the gardens ready for everyone to enjoy. If you can’t make it to this event, we’ll be here all spring and summer!”
