Karen Stanislaus, an attorney with more than 20 years of experience in Family Court, earned a key endorsement in her race for this year’s open-seat race for Oneida County Family Court.
At the last Oneida County Democratic Committee meeting, Karen earned the endorsement of the Oneida County Democratic Party.
“Karen Stanislaus is an outstanding attorney, an outstanding candidate, and will be an outstanding Family Court Judge” Oneida County Democratic Committee Chairman Mitch Ford Said.
“I’m the only candidate in this race who has heard thousands of Family Court cases” Karen Stanislaus said. She is currently a Family Court Referee where she hears cases and writes decisions in the best interests of the child involved in the case.
Karen Stanislaus now has the Democratic, Working Families and Equal Justice for All Party Lines.

Karen Stanislaus, Esquire, is an appointed Court Attorney Referee serving the Fifth Judicial District in Onondaga County Family Court Syracuse, New York . In her capacity as Court Attorney Referee, Stanislaus presides over domestic violence, child custody and parenting time cases. In 2018 she was appointed to preside as Court Attorney Referee over the first exclusively civil domestic violence court in the Fifth Judicial District. She believes that in this sensitive, highly emotional, and sometimes volatile area of the law, it is so essential that judges and jurists always monitor the temperature in the courtroom and employ proper judicial temperament to these stressful cases .
Prior to her appointment as Court Attorney Referee, Stanislaus served as Principal Court Attorney to the Honorable James R. Griffith, in Rome and Utica, NY. It is Griffith’s retirement which led to the vacancy for a family court judge, which Stanislaus hopes to fill on November 2, 2021. She says , “Judge Griffith is a mentor and taught me so much about Family Court and the first Civil Family Treatment Court in Utica/Rome which Griffith established and presided over from 2006 until 2019. Prior to working with Judge Griffith, Stanislaus was an associate at Felt Evans, LLP, Clinton, NY , where she specialized in family and matrimonial law. At Felt Evans LLP, Stanislaus perfected her love for this area of the law and expanded her view of what a ‘family’ really is: “they are the people who truly love you.”
Stanislaus was born and raised in Brooklyn , NY to a wonderful family. She is the mother of three beautiful children: Tyson, Tara and Jeremy and the ecstatic grandmother, known as “Glammy” to her three “babygrands”: Genevieve, Maya and Stella. She says that her family has brought her so much “J O Y“!
Stanislaus is a graduate of Brooklyn College, and Temple University School of Law. She has resided in New Hartford, NY for almost 30 years.
She serves on the New Hartford Zoning Board of Appeals and is a Trustee at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, Utica, NY. Stanislaus has been honored and recognized for her hard work and is the recipient of the coveted : Hon. Michael F. Dillon Law Guardian of the year award for her outstanding work with children ; Peacemaker Law Guardian of the year Award; Insight House Recovery Community Award; YWCA Salute to Outstanding Women Award; Congress of the United States Proclamation; and Utica Mayoral Proclamation.
She is the endorsed candidate on the Democratic Party line, on her own Independent third party line, “Equal Justice for All and the Working Families Party lines.
