Dodge Pratt Northam Art & Community Center Presents Upstate Cerebral Palsy’s Piece of HeART Exhibit May 2022

Monday, April 11, 2022

Boonville, NY – Join us for the opening reception of the Pieces of HeART exhibit on May 7, 2022 from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the historic Dodge Pratt Northam Art & Community Center located at 106 Schuyler Street, Boonville. Food will be provided courtesy of Spressos and The Compound, which feature some of the Pieces of HeART works at their locations. This reception is free to the public.

Pieces of HeART is a creative art expression program of Upstate Cerebral Palsy, featuring artistic works in a variety of media. Multitalented adult artists, ranging in age and ability, create art with a common goal of self-expression. Creative expression provides artists an outlet to present their thoughts and feelings and improves overall well-being.

This exhibit will feature 40 paintings from 20 different artists, including squeegee paintings and learn from the masters art work. An assortment of pottery pieces, featuring over a dozen artists, will also be on display.

“This is our first reception since 2019, so we are beyond excited,” said Samantha Hallenbeck, Recreation Therapy Specialist and exhibit curator for Upstate Cerebral Palsy. “All of the artists are looking forward to celebrating their work and showcasing their creativity. We will have selections by individual artists on display in both painting and pottery, as well as some collaborative pieces. A lot of art has been produced in these past three years and we can’t wait to share it with you!”

“As a former home for the Dodge, Pratt, and Northam families, our beautiful historic art and community center has been a unique venue for many local artists to be featured in our monthly art shows,” explained Amy Simanowski, Director of the Dodge Pratt Northam Art & Community Center. “We have preserved the original character of the late 19th century building, offering a distinctive backdrop for many styles of art work. We at the Center are very excited to be hosting an exhibit of Upstate Cerebral Palsy’s Pieces of HeART works, and invite the public to stop in and visit this wonderful exhibition.”

The exhibit will run through May 23, 2022 during regular business hours or by appointment. Please call the Center at (315)942-5133 or visit the website at dpnboonville.org for more information.
