Press Release

The Utica Community Gardens need your support! While planting and harvesting of early Spring vegetables of such crops as lettuce varieties, radish, asparagus, and mescaline mix is underway the Lead Gardeners of both locations of Linwood Place and Jay Street welcome volunteers. Hilde Lowenstein, of RCIL is the Lead Gardener for the Linwood Place Garden, and Larry Drake, of Feed Our Vets, is the Lead Gardener for the Jay Street Garden.

For those interested in joining the Gardens, no requirements are necessary other than a willingness to work for the garden’s produce either by yourself or with others.

If interested in planting, evening watering, or weekend weeding please call For The Good, Inc. at  (315) 797-2417.

The Utica Community Gardens are still looking for donations of plant starts and gardening tools.

Thank you!

A big thank you to Cobblestone Construction, Utica, NY for providing compost for the Jay and Noyes Street Gardens, the Nestor Brothers in Clinton, NY for hauling soil, Stiefvafers for upkeep of our lawnmowers and weed whackers, Old Path Farm, C.S.A. located on Grange Hill Road, for their spinach and kale starts, Matt Briggs, of Scalzo, Zogby, & Wittig for donations of tomato plants, and Michelle Valente for donations of tomato plants.
