Oneida County Suicide Prevention Coalition Calls upon the Community to take Action in Participating in National Suicide Prevention Week, September 9 – 15, 2012

August 2012 – National Suicide Prevention Week is Sunday, September 9 through Saturday, September 15, 2012.  In recognition of National Suicide Prevention Week, Center for Family Life and Recovery, Inc. (CFLR) will be participating in World Wide Suicide Prevention Day, taking place on Monday, September 10, 2012! CFLR and the Oneida County Suicide Prevention Coalition will be conducting a Suicide Prevention Awareness Campaign via email, through CFLR’s website: www.whenthereshelpthereshope.com, and will be providing depression screenings at various sites in our Community.

The Oneida County Suicide Prevention Coalition’s (OCSPC) mission is to prevent suicide in our Community by providing awareness of suicide prevention, intervention and post-prevention initiatives. Center for Family Life and Recovery, Inc. provides support, as well as substance abuse and mental health counseling to individuals and families in need.

Additionally, Center for Family Life and Recovery, Inc.’s Suicide Prevention Council, invites you to attend the 5th Annual “Out of Darkness Community Walk” taking place on Saturday, September 22, 2012 at SUNYIT.  More than 200 people from Oneida, Madison and Herkimer Counties are expected to participate. This walk supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) by helping to support local and national suicide prevention and awareness programs. Monies donated will support vital research, education, advocacy, suicide prevention initiatives and programs to support those impacted by suicide.

For more information on OCSPC or World Wide Suicide Prevention Day, contact Miranda Nieto, CPS, Training and Community Outreach Coordinator for CFLR, Inc., at 315-733-1709 or mnieto@cflrinc.org.
