Local Scouts Sell Popcorn to Raise Money

September 14th 2012   ·   2 Comments

September 7, 2012, Utica, NY – Popcorn. Everybody get your popcorn! Now through November 2nd local Cub and Boy Scout units in Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, Lewis and Otsego counties are selling popcorn, and there is something for everyone from chocolate and cheese to butter. And for those watching their weight, there are even 100-calorie snack pack Individual boxes.  Packages and themed/seasonal collector tins start at $10.

According to Mike Donaghue, Scout Executive of Revolutionary Trails Council, “this is the most important fundraiser of the year for local Cub and Boy Scouts. September is a crucial time for the units, as they begin the new program year.  The funds that they raise now will help them plan activities for the year.”

This annual council-wide fundraiser assists local units in raising money for summer resident or day camps, adventures, supplies, registration fees, and advancement badges.  Monies raised at the council level contribute to valuable programs such as Scout Reach, a program that provides support to individuals, training volunteers to be better Scouts, and sustaining camp facilities.

    Where can this be purchased??

Even young ones will love retailing popcorn for a cause because being a popcorn fundraiser can be an encounter they will not fail to remember. They can also utilize this plan to establish their own charity event once they grow old.
