UTICA, NY- The 4th Annual Utica Zombie Walk will occur on October 27, 2012 at 7 p.m. at the new Uptown Theater, located at 2014 Genesee Street, Utica, New York. The Utica Zombie Walk is an all-ages, free event that allows participants to act out a simulated zombie invasion while also benefiting selected local charities.
In addition to the zombie walk, there are several other events taking place including a pet and human food drive, a Haunted History paranormal investigation of the Uptown Theater by the NY Shadow Chasers, and a zombie themed dance party aboard the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. This year’s charities are the Feed Our Vets Food Pantry and the Stevens-Swan Humane Society of Oneida County.
Registration, the food drive, makeup and preparation of the zombie horde begin at 5 p.m. at the Uptown Theater’s lobby and main stage. The cost of registration is free, but participants are asked to bring one non-perishable pet or human food item and present it upon registration. Participants should also bring their own makeup. Makeup artists will be present to help turn participants into the walking dead. Musical entertainment by DJs Manny and Muph will accompany registration.
The zombie walk begins at 7 p.m. sharp, and will follow a pre-determined route along Genesee Street and Sunset Avenue of about 1 mile in distance.
For those who are 21 years of age and older, a fully themed and decorated zombie train ride will leave Union Station in Utica via the Adirondack Scenic Railroad at 9 p.m. Aboard the train enjoy snacks and a wet cash bar, as well as a dance party with DJs DA, Phungeye and Vogel. Tickets should be purchased in advance at www.adirondackrr.com or by calling 315-724-0700 and cost $20. A portion of the ticket sales will be donated to this year’s selected charities.

About The Utica Zombie Walk
The Utica Zombie Walk is an annual event produced by three local production companies, Direkt Influence Productions, Microcosm House and Shadowpark Studios. Since its inception in 2009, participation, media coverage and community support have steadily increased. Last year’s third annual event greatly exceeded goals and expectations. With an estimated attendance of 300-500 people, the event raised $700 as well as 400lbs of human food, and over 100 pet items for the Steven Swan Humane Society of Oneida County and The Food Bank of CNY. The Utica Zombie Walk’s goal is to keep the focus on local charities and businesses. The event relies heavily on the kindness and dedication of a volunteer staff, along with the help of the city of Utica, local media, and local venue owners.
