Final Wrap Up of DNC by local Delegates
September 10th 2012 · 4 Comments
Franklin Davis – “I am thoroughly impressed and happy with the convention. They had an agenda that was strategic and precise. They hit a home run.
They were able to explain to us that this administration didn’t sit on their hands for the last 4 years. That the President didn’t fail like so many people are being led to believe. If by passing the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, where women are now protected to earn equal pay for equal work, is failing, we’re really off base. If passing healthcare reform where insurance companies can’t deny a person, even children, for pre-existing conditions, if that is failing, we’re really off base. These are the things Democrats have done and accomplished. Ending the war in Iraq. Bringing the troops home. Catching Osama bin Laden. These are great accomplishments.
People doesn’t understand the cost of these wars is a tremendous strain on our country. And money that can now be spent here at home.
As I left the DNC and was driving home, I put on Fox New ‘cause I like to listen to both sides. They were playing snippets of Jeb Bush’s speech at the RNC.
He actually said these words, “My brother has integrity and you can say what you want, but my brother kept America safe.”
Now whether George Bush has integrity can be argued, but to say that he kept America safe when the worst act of terrorism in American history occurred on his watch is a ludicrous statement.
And Bush’s handling of Hurricane Katrina, for the country that considers itself to be the best in the world, rich in resources and expertise, to handle a natural disaster in that manner, in and of itself was a disaster. Katrina goes down in history with him as President flying over it. He chose to handle that crisis in that manner.
Because we’re going into an election year they are trying to put things on Obama as though he was the cause and the reason for all of these enormous problems. The deficit was Bush’s creation. He sent us to war and there is a daily cost to that war. It doesn’t stop simply because we get a new president. You cannot just stop and go in another direction.
We were going down a hill. A steep hill. The best we could do was to drop a couple of trees in front of it to slow the decline. They showed that in the midst of that decline as a country that Barack was able to accomplish some major things.
They didn’t harp on a valid point that the Republicans made the conscious decision to block anything Barack Obama put in front of them. They vowed to make him a one-term president. It could have been their own platform, they weren’t going to take it back to their constituents and so their constituents will never know. They blocked so many things people just don’t know.
Barack Obama was the editor of the Harvard Law Review. He could have written his ticket to any of the best firms. He could have set himself up to make millions and millions of dollars. He prepared himself and could have done everything for his own financial gain. He chose instead to go into community organizing. He didn’t do that because they shot him down in interviews. He chose that route so he would know the people. Michelle Obama was able to capture how the President views the condition of this country personally. How he reads people’s letters every night to keep him in touch.
They showed that our president really cares about the people of this country. They did a great job.”
Jerome McKinsey- “The Democratic party chiefs did their homework. They were not distracted by the other party. They focused on the answers to the many accusations about this administration and they did a good job. They preferred to present cogent explanations of the coming platform.
Those were: End the wars. Get the troops home. Bring the money back home that is being spent in the wars. Rebuild our infrastructure. Employ the returning troops in that construction. (Veterans fought for our freedom. They shouldn’t have to come home and fight for jobs.) Employ the many other out-of-work Americans in the same way. Use that war money to fuel education of our youth and the re-education of the workforce for the new jobs of the 21st century. Healthcare with universal coverage to assure everyone’s needs for medical and drugs are handled and no denials for preexisting conditions. And allowing people to marry the ones they love.
They treat you good down there. They eliminated distractions. Charlotte treated us well. They opened their arms to us Yankees. The New York contingent really did solidify. We did a lot of networking and made a lot of connections. They’re all reading these articles in the Utica Phoenix!”

Holy Spell Check Batman!!
thank you for the tip Roscoe
Who paid for these 2 delegates to attend this conference.
PS: Please explain why this post has been deleted 2x. There is no malicious intent, it is a sincere question
It hadn’t been deleted, I simply put the two IP’s from the previous discussion on approval status. We have had some good discussions and I will not let this site be trolled or turned into Topix. Talk about the subject, not personalities and mud slinging. If you disagree with an aspect of a story or opinion, state it, but you do not need to write it ten times under two different names. As you can see, I unfortunately had to close the comments on the other stories due to the trolling.
That’s not good for any of us. I want you to be able to give constructive criticism. Believe it or not, I have no agenda other than reporting news. Am I biased at times? Any reporter in the world that says they’re not would be lying. But I can try my hardest not to be. As you saw, I did the story about Vescera and then followed it with a headline that he WON. That’s reporting. I can’t help if he didn’t respond to our questions and then wants to get upset at the end product.
As for your question, I don’t know who paid. I assume they did from my experience with national conventions, but I didn’t do this story. I will ask Cassandra on Monday. It’s a good question.
